Scindapsus

Scindapsus is an accepted botanical genus in the aroid family Araceae, native across tropical and subtropical Asia through parts of the western Pacific and northern Australia.

These are primarily climbing plants, often recognized horticulturally for their entire leaves and, in some species, distinctive silver patterning. Foliage appearance alone, however, does not establish botanical identity.

The genus was published by Heinrich Wilhelm Schott in 1832. Plants of the World Online currently recognizes 36 accepted species.

Naming Matters

Not every name attached to a Scindapsus in cultivation is a botanical name. Throughout this reference, we distinguish between accepted species, botanical synonyms, cultivars, horticultural or trade names, community names, and names whose status remains unresolved.

Where the evidence is uncertain or conflicting, we say so.
