Some Scindapsus names arrive with paperwork. Others arrive with stories. And some seem to arrive with almost nothing at all.
The goal is not to force every case into a neat conclusion. It is to separate what can be documented from what is reported, repeated, uncertain — or still completely unknown.
When the evidence gives us an answer, we follow it.
When it doesn't, the case stays open.
Case Files
Episode 1 - Who exactly is Scindapsus pictus?
Our investigation begins with the species itself — and a name whose history becomes considerably more complicated once we start following the botanical record.
Episode 2 - Argyraeus: The One With Victorian Paperwork
Argyraeus really does have nineteenth-century paperwork. The harder question is whether the historical name can be followed continuously into the plant circulating under Argyraeus in horticulture today.
More Cases Are Coming.
Exotica, Bakudapati and the many other names circulating through Scindapsus horticulture give us no shortage of evidence trails to follow. Some future Files may resolve neatly.
We suspect others will not be nearly so cooperative.
